At GCUF a grade is not one fixed number. Your percentage in a course is first rounded up to the next whole number (52.1% and 52.9% both count as 53%), and each whole percentage from 40 to 85 has its own grade point. 70% earns 3.25 and 72% earns 3.35, though both are a B+.
That is why a calculator that only asks for a letter grade cannot give your real GPA. Enter your obtained marks and this calculator reads the same table GCUF uses, course by course, and works out your GPA from them.
If you only know your letter grades, choose "Letter grade": you will see the lowest and highest GPA those letters can produce.
Each course gets a grade point from GCUF's grade point table based on your percentage in it, and courses with more credit hours count for more in your GPA. Enter your marks above and the calculator does every step for you, using the official table.
One credit hour carries 20 marks, so a 3-credit course is out of 60 and a 4-credit course is out of 80. No GCUF course carries more than 4 credit hours.
85% and above is an A (4.00). 80–84% is A- (3.75 to 3.95), 70–79% is B+ (3.25 to 3.70), 65–69% is B (3.00 to 3.20) and 60–64% is B- (2.70 to 2.94). The full list is on the GCUF grading table page.
For BS, ADP and Master programmes a course is passed at 40% (grade D, 1.00). For MS, MPhil and PhD, and in Pharm-D and engineering programmes, the pass mark is 50% and there are no C- or D grades.
Yes. Any fraction in your percentage in a course is rounded up to the next whole number before the grade point is read, so 52.1% and 52.9% both count as 53%. The calculator applies this for you.
A CGPA of 2.00. After the first academic year, a CGPA from 1.70 to below 2.00 means promotion on probation (two probations are allowed in BS), and below 1.70 means being dropped from the rolls.
Courses graded below C can be repeated. Both grades stay on the transcript but only the better one is counted in your CGPA, and a course can be taken at most three times.
The mid-semester exam carries 30% of a course's marks, assignments, quizzes and presentations 20%, and the final exam 50%. Use the final-exam planner in the "Marks & points" tab to see what you need in the final for each grade.
No. A withdrawn course is not counted in GPA or CGPA, so leave it out of the calculator. An F is counted: it adds its credit hours with zero grade points.
Only in your own browser, so your courses are still there next time on the same device. Nothing you type is sent to us, to analytics or to ads. "Clear" removes it.
